Well, it’s a lot harder to access a computer around here now that the kids are on summer vacation.
First off: Katie visited last weekend! We found some spaghetti sauce at the market and made pasta for dinner. I don’t think the kids liked it, but whatever. Dagva did a good job of pretending, at least. His exaggerated “MMMM!” was priceless.

Reunited! (temporarily)
This week I went to Ulaanbaatar with my training group for visits to a bunch of small businesses. Probably most notable about the trip was the ride back, which involved one trainee requesting a vomit pit stop, and two others struggling to keep it in from one end or the other. I was fine on that front until my turn came up yesterday. So obviously we’re still getting used to the food here.
We also taught our first English classes this week. The CED training group has to teach one hour per week for the rest of training. The hardest part is recruiting students, especially since we’re not allowed to teach kids, only adults. (There are plenty of adults around here who would happily force their kids to attend.) Four of us teamed up to find students, talking to vendors in the market and posting flyers around town. People sounded interested. I was a little worried that we wouldn’t be able to accommodate the dozens of people who were likely to show up. So of course, in reality I had two people come to my class. Apparently there was confusion about whether the 7:30 start time meant AM or PM. Better luck next time, I guess.
As you can see on the side of the page, I’ve uploaded some pictures from my low-res phone camera. Visit my Flickr page for more.
Happy 4th of July!
